My Professional Journey: Bridging Environmental Management and Technology.
With over two decades of experience in the environmental management and local government sectors, along with three years in asset management, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the intersection of nature, technology, and community. Currently, I'm a Product Consultant at Brightly Software (a Siemens Company), specializing in the Confirm Asset Management and Maintenance Software.
My role involves a fascinating blend of process mapping and software configuration. Before implementing the software for our clients, I meticulously map out their unique requirements. Drawing from my industry expertise, I also contribute to the development of new features — such as Confirm Arboriculture and playground inspections—enhancing the software’s utility.
In 2020, I proudly became a Founder Member of the Parks Management Association, a dedicated professional network for those working in the greenspace sector. I remain a member today. From lush parks to open spaces, countryside retreats, and vibrant playgrounds, my career began in environmental management. I hold a BSc (Hons) degree in Environmental Studies from the
University of Hertfordshire
(completed in 2002), which included a transformative 12-month work placement with Natural England, where I contributed to conservation efforts on the Norfolk Broads.
Post-graduation, my journey led me to specialize in arboriculture, grounds maintenance, strategy creation, and team management. My unwavering commitment to improving the natural environment drives me — a belief that the benefits extend to all of us. As a successful project manager, I’ve overseen numerous large-scale development projects. Notably, I’ve secured Green Flag awards for four local authorities, recognizing excellence in greenspace management. If you’re curious about specific completed projects, you’ll find them detailed on the Projects Page.

Always professional and during the confirm project he became extremely knowledgeable on the background workings of Confirm. His ability to pick up systems and realise the potential for how they can be used to improve a process and also how best to utilise the reporting functionality for future improvements has been vital to the Council. He will be an asset to any company requiring both project management and system knowledge and I would happily work with him again.

Roger was instrumental in pulling together the various stakeholders required to develop a partnership to proactively manage Local Authority-owned woodland under a new Social Enterprise for social, as well as Land Management, outcomes. Roger is excellent at negotiation and championed the different approach amongst more sceptical colleagues and sought to help address the barriers arising during this complex project wherever he could.
