Hanley Park was designed by landscape architect Thomas Mawson and is a Grade II* listed park, which opened in 1897. The project was awarded a grant of £4,579,300 from Heritage Lottery Fund and the Big lottery Fund in 2015. The total project cost, which includes factors such as maintenance over the next five years, is just over £6million, with the remaining funds coming from a combination of Section 106 agreements, the city council and volunteers, including the Friends of Hanley Park. Prior to restoration the park currently attracts nearly 1million visitors per year. It is hoped with the restoration work, that this will increase by 40 per cent to 1.4million people by 2020. Between 2014 and mid 2016 a significant portion of my role was to develop the Stage 1 Heritage Lottery Award, (HLF), into a successful Stage 2 funding award in conjunction with the councils landscape architect. In 2015 the HLF announced the bid was successful in securing just over £4.5 million pounds, making the project viable. My work included;
